School Life

At European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS), learning and personal growth continue long after the day’s lessons have ended. We aim to provide our students with opportunities to develop their natural talents, build confidence, practice a healthy lifestyle and expand their world view.

Dutch School

The Dutch School Saigon (Nederlandse School Saigon) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was founded in 1998. The school offers a Dutch language and culture teaching programme aimed at Dutch speaking children between 3 and 18 years old. Our curriculum enables pupils to re-enter Dutch language education in the Netherlands or Belgium upon their return from Vietnam.

The Dutch School is based in the European International School (EIS). We have a great relationship with EIS and we have our own dedicated classroom, called the Dutch House. On events like United Nations Day, Christmas Fair, International Language Day and Dutch King’s Day, we enjoy collaborating closely with our generous host school.

Our school is associated with the foundation of Dutch Education Abroad (Stichting NOB), an organization providing pedagogical/didactical guidance as well as managerial advice to over 200 similar Dutch Language and Culture schools worldwide. In addition, our school is supervised by inspectors from the Dutch Ministry of Education.

For the majority of our pupils, Dutch is their first language. Our aim for these pupils is to enable them to retain their native language skills on a level as close as possible to their peers in the Netherlands or Belgium. Children with at least one Dutch speaking parent, can enroll in our school.

A
s in most Dutch Language and Culture schools abroad, we retain the same vision:

  •        Pupils are taught by fully qualified teachers, who attend twice a year teaching courses.
  •        Pupils are taught at least once a week for about 3 hours.
  •        Teachers use the most current and modern teaching methods as in primary and secondary schools in the Netherlands and Belgium.
  •        Monitoring pupils’ development through a combination of observation, regular tests and standardized language tests from the Netherlands.
