Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for once again turning out in such numbers to support our Parent-Teacher Conferences and our Student Led Conferences. Each time we run these events, the numbers of participants increase. Those of you with children in the younger part of the school, may have experienced student led conferences for the first time. I hope that you appreciated and valued the experience - there’s nothing quite like seeing, first-hand, exactly what your child has been learning about in school. I am always amazed at how enthusiastic children are at showing their parents what they can do. As ever, if you have suggestions about these conferences, please do not hesitate to feedback through your class teacher or your Class Parent Representative.
Today, you should receive a letter requesting confirmation of your contact details. If for any reason you do not receive this letter from your child today, please contact Reception straightaway. The reason for sending out this request, is that we have become aware that in some cases we do not have the latest and most up-to-date contact details for you. This means that in some cases we are concerned that you are not receiving important school information, and more significantly we want to be sure that we can get hold of you in case of an emergency. Please do your best to get this information back to us by Monday.
On Saturday, we have our EIS Fun Day. A few weeks ago it was touch-and-go as to whether or not we would be able to go ahead with this activity. My thanks to our Parent Events Committee for their support and energy in making sure it happens! Full of games and activities, a very special magic show and movie, our EIS Fun Day is sure to once again be a fantastic community event. The games and activities start at 3 PM, with the movie beginning around 6 PM. Be sure to bring along some money so that you can participate in the games, and buy some snacks. It is always good to bring a blanket and a cushion to sit on for the movie as well. The theme for this year’s Fun Day is THE CIRCUS.
Next week, is Creative Arts Week, where our children will be encouraged to view the world through the lens of art, music, drama and dance. As a culmination to the week, we will have our Exhibition And Performance Evening on Friday 23rd March to which you are very much invited to join. We encourage you to make a donation of 30,000 VND for entrance to the event, which will go some way to supporting our grade 11 community service projects. Refreshments will be available on the night as well. We look forward to seeing you there.
One very special element of our creative arts week that I would like to mention here, is the IB Diploma Program Visual Art Exhibition which will take place in the multipurpose room on Monday 19th March beginning at 5 PM. This is the final assignment of our grade 12 Visual Arts students, so a great way to learn about the kind of work that students do in high school.
As you can see from above, and as my staff repeatedly inform me, EIS is a super busy environment where parents and students alike are constantly given opportunities to learn and get involved in our school. I encourage you to take these opportunities as they are offered to you, in order to continue to build our thriving community.
Finally, a reminder to complete our CIS Community Survey which was shared with you several weeks ago. The link is still active, and I kindly ask you to participate in the survey as soon as possible. By providing this feedback, we are better able to evaluate and what we do well and identify areas for growth so that we can make EIS an even better school. So, in case you have not completed the survey here is the link again: https://survey.cois.org/s3/Parent-European-International-School-Ho-Chi-Minh-City-2018. It is available in multiple languages for your convenience.
I wish you a great end to the week.
