Welcome to the European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS), one of the few fully accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum Schools in Vietnam offering three dedicated IB programmes – Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
The European International School Ho Chi Minh City, located in the heart of Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, offers a unique world class learning environment for children from 2 to 18 years of age. The school is proud to be one of only 2 authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum Schools in Ho Chi Minh City, and one of an exclusive group of only 364 IB Continuum Schools worldwide offering Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The School received full accreditation status in May 2019 by Council of International Schools (CIS). It means that EIS meets the standards set by CIS in all areas of school operations. It also means that other schools, colleges and universities recognise EIS students’ school reports and High School diploma as being issued by a quality school, held in good standing.
Our students acquire the skills and embrace the values of the IB learner profile, enabling a smooth transition to other schools, colleges and universities globally. We have a track record of academic excellence, of substantial scholarship offers, and a proven pathway to some of the best colleges and universities in the USA, the UK, Australia/New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
Our tropical garden campus is warm and welcoming and students enjoy a ‘home away from home’ environment within 13 beautiful low-rise villas (our ‘educational village’). With 45+ nationalities represented, our community is truly international; ensuring that every child has an enriching, engaging and challenging learning experience, helping them to become global citizens. Students are constantly encouraged to challenge themselves, to take risks and to try new things (without the fear of failure), to learn to collaborate and work in teams, to care for others, to ask great questions, to research thoroughly and to reflect on personal actions.
Being a medium-sized school, we are large enough to offer the full range of educational opportunities, while also being small enough to provide the unique individual attention and care that each child deserves.
EIS teachers are passionate about delivering high-quality education, enjoy teaching and improving their teaching practice. They are collegial, reflective and hard-working. EIS teachers benefit from regular professional development and are expected to contribute to the professional development of others. They subscribe to the school’s Mission and Vision, and in particular the Learning Principles.
Safeguarding of Children
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; and expects all employees, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
Successful candidates need to be able to demonstrate a growth mindset and an understanding of the challenges inherent in being a small but growing school. As an IB school, experience of teaching in an IB school is an advantage, through the school will always consider well qualified and self-motivated teachers from other teaching backgrounds. A willingness to engage fully in the school’s community, enrichment activities, excursions and other events is a must.
Anna Baldwin (Early Years Teacher) and Pablo Viedma (Head of Techonology) shared their experience of moving to Vietnam and working at the European International School Ho Chi Minh City.

Ikoma Family - From Japan
I was at EIS for four years. Firstly, thanks to EIS for letting me be a member of school. I could not believehow much I developed since Grade 9 and it was a miracle that I could write English like this! Secondly, I would like to thank to teachers who support me, especially Mr. David. Thank you for being ourhomeroom teacher and guiding us as DP coordinator.
What I have learnt from the IBDP
I personally enjoyed Core subjects (CAS, EE, and TOK). I learnt general art movement from my EE. In CAS,I improved some of my skills and it gave me many challenging stuff that I haven’t tried before…
Most memorable moment
My most memorable moment in EIS would be my Art Exhibition which was really rare to experience as ahigh school student. My exhibition theme was “Culture identity” which I could express my culturalbackground where I belonged to. It was a great time that I had communication with my communityabout me and the community itself.
Moon Ju Hyeog (Class of 2017)
When we moved to Vietnam from Australia, our daughter had been at a small, child centred school and it was important to find a good fit. The European International School was perfect with its warm, friendly village feel. As Sage was still young, seven at the time, a nurturing, creative and inclusive environment was essential to her well being. We found this at EIS and it has continued to be so, Sage is now in her fourth year. The Primary Years Program was also a big drawcard for us as it is an internationally available program that Sage can continue on with when we move home. Parent involvement is encouraged, whether it be as a class parent representative, member of the Parents Council, community events or in the classroom. We have always found our ideas, concerns and opinions can be voiced and heard. I love that Sage has had the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures both through fellow students, teachers and also learning a second language. Although the facilities are limited at EIS, Sage has been able to join the choir and swim team which has competed internationally. The size of the school really allows opportunities for students which they may otherwise not have and is continually looking for ways to involve students, parents and teachers in school life.
Stevenson Family – From Australia
This is our fourth year among EIS community in Ho Chi Minh city. We have two daughters at the school. One is currently in third grade and the other, our youngest, is in Kindergarten 2. The school has provided a safe and comfortable environment for them to learn and develop their skills both as individuals and as members of the community. Classes are small and the education is personal, so the teachers know their students and can tailor their efforts to individual student needs. Through the after school activities, the kids complement their classes and get to know students and teachers from other grades, enhancing their interpersonal relationships and strengthening community links. Parents involvement is highly appreciated and encouraged by the school. There are a lot of occasions during the year, like events and assemblies, when the parents can join and watch the kids work and progress. Also, the school organizes a series of events at the campus for the whole community, out of school hours and in a relaxed atmosphere, having the parents and the kids a chance to get together, so the kids can meet their friends and the parents and teachers of all sections get to know each other. EIS is a warm and welcoming community of caring students, teachers, and parents.
Gazquez Family – From Spain
We are Max (6), Jonas (9), Maren and Daniel. Coming from Germany we were looking for a school that
offers both – German and English classes as well as an international environment with pupils from all
over the world to socialize with. EIS was our choice! EIS offers our kids a learning environment full of
life, activities and encouragement. Class sizes are limited and the IB curriculum supports our kid’s school
careers in a smooth but also demanding and performance driven way. Max and Jonas enjoy the broad
offer of after school activities and the possibility to explore different subjects in a playful and supportive
environment. The big number of opportunities and events organized by the school to involve parents in
the school community complement the positive impression we have gained from EIS throughout the past
Kernbach Family – From Germany
My family has been part of this community for more than 3 years now and has seen so many positive changes in the school as it continues to grow and expand. What impresses me the most is the Open
Door Policy which applies throughout from the teachers all the way up to the senior management. With
effective communication being so vital I find the schools pro active approach of using additional tools
such as Social Media, Weekly Newsletters and Class Weeblies very impressive I am always up to date
with all the events and happenings. New Ideas are always welcome and we as Parents are included and
encouraged to lead many activities throughout the school year. Excellent examples of these would be
International Language Day, Reading in Class, Family Fun Day and Movie Nights of which I make a point
of attending. Being a multicultural, multination school with 39 Nationalities represented throughout the grades I find their mission statement a true foundation on which the school values are brought to life by all members of EIS faculty. This is in turn instilled into the students from Early Years all the way through to High School. The growth and maturity displayed by the students is clearly visible through their development. Having been expatriated throughout Europe, The Middle East and Asia over the last 13 years in multiple locations my family and I have been exposed to various educational systems. When I was looking for a school for my 2 daughters EIS was the perfect fit, I love the campus with its unique design and clever use of space, the individual villas, the IB curriculum and the language program which is the best in HCMC. I would happily recommend EIS as one of the top Educational Institutions in Ho Chi Minh City.
Fettke Family – From Germany
Our son Lucian is now in his second year at EIS, in Early Years, and loves it! EIS offers top quality education while maintaining a fantastic community feel. The staff and teachers are professional and caring, and as parents we benefit from excellent, open communication from the school about what is going on, and how our son is progressing. We are super happy that we chose EIS.
