The EUROPEAN International School Ho Chi Minh City is pleased to announce that registration is now open for Summer School 2015. The Summer Programme will run from 15th June – 3rd July and is available to all children from 2 to 17 years of age.

Programme

Early Years students, age 2 – 6 will learn through engaging topics and play-based activities. All the activities are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills and will incorporate arts and crafts, early writing and reading skills as well as music, dance and sports.

WEEK 1: Once Upon a Time

The children will enter a world of fantasy and fun as they learn and discover through the medium of  stories and fairytales. There will be lots of creative role-playing and a visit to the cinema.

WEEK 2: The 5 Senses

The children will be stimulated and encouraged to use their 5 senses to explore the world around them. To include a treasure hunt and trip to Suoi Tien Park.

WEEK 3: Minibeasts

The children will learn about the fascinating and mysterious world of minibeasts and their habitats. They will go on an exciting nature trail and help to build a “bug hotel”.

 

Primary School students, age 7 – 11 will engage in project-based work that covers grammar, writing, reading and presentation skills. Afternoon activities will include field trips as well as other creative and physical activities such as art, sport and music.

WEEK 1: Little Scientists

Students will have the opportunity to experience how to bring together creativity, science and mathematics in an exciting and hands on way.

WEEK 2: The Olympic Games

Students will learn about the rich and varied history of the Olympic Games through group research, documentaries and books. Students will also participate in a mini Olympic Games.

WEEK 3: Under The Sea

Students will go on a fascinating and exciting journey as they learn and discover more about the mysteries of the underwater world. There will be a trip to the Aquarium.

 

Secondary students, age 11 – 17  will engage in project-based work that sharpens their teamwork and collaborative skills. These projects are designed to strengthen reading and writing skills as well as speaking and listening.

WEEK 1: Food Planet

Students will research the effect that food has on our bodies and the impact it has on our Environment. Students will look at different cultures, their diets and the benefits of “eating green”.

WEEK 2: The Science of Meditative Sport

The students will take a detailed look into the science behind introspective sports such as yoga, tai chi and martial arts. There will be student-led presentations and debates as well as an opportunity to take a Martial Arts Class.

WEEK 3: The Culture of Arts

Students will look at the different ways that Arts are a vehicle of Culture. Students will be encouraged to express themselves through various creative mediums such as Art, poetry, drama and compositions.
